Rx Bandits Tour

I can't tell you how much fun I had on this past tour with the Rx Bandits. To put it simply, the band rules and they are awesome dudes as well. I became a big Rx Bandits fan on this tour can you tell? Thanks so much to those guys for taking us out. It was definitely a tour that VAUX needed to be on. A great moral booster for everyone in the band. The band is really working well as a five piece. I am still trying to get used to playing the Piano and the guitar on stage. It is a difficult thing to learn. I learned a lot from watching Steve Choi form the RxBandits. He can schralp a keyboard and guitar. I learned a lot from watching all of those dudes actually. They have some serious musical chemistry and it is inspiring to watch.

Thanks to Moose and Maryelezabeth for putting us up while we were in the NYC area. It was fun practicing in their house the morning before the acoustic set. Thanks to Dan for having us at the Pure Volume loft. Thanks to the Smiths for putting us up in New Jersey and thanks a ton for the great pancakes dale made us!

Most of all, thanks to everyone that came out to see VAUX play. You guys are the reasonwe tread on. It means a ton to us!!!

Denver and South Park Fest

Thanks to all who came out to either of both show. It was great to play in Denver. I wish we played Denver more often. That was the very first time we played a 12 song set. I thought it was fun playing that many songs. We usually limit it to about 7 or 8 but not last Friday. The South Park Fest was fun as well. The Photo Atlas and Love Me Destroyer tore it up before we got on stage. Thanks to Dave for coming up there with us and singing along on Set It To Blow. If you haven't checked out those bands, please do. It felt nice to get up to the mountains for the evening. After we played we watched The Photo Atlas and The Swayback played late shows. The Swayback were told that they couldn't play anymore so they went ahead and did it anyway. It was awesome. The people in that bar were assholes and deserved every bit that they got. Ryder even started the "Fuck This Town" chant. It was hilarious. What's up with the crazy cops of South Park. They harassed everyone as they dug through band equipement and snooped around the town. Weird shit......-adam

New York, New Jersey, Charlotte, Virginia Beach

The New York day was in Long Island in the lot of the arena where the New York Islanders play. The union workers are very serious there. They even put sand bags on every merch tent holding them down in case of wind. We played a very energetic set that day. It was nice seeing people singing along to the new songs. It feels great having the record out. I know people will enjoy it if they just give it a chance. I spent the latter part of the day cooling people off with Sean's mist can. People were so thankful for the ice cold mist. It was burning hot that day and even I gave myself a good spray down with the ice cold mist. The New Jersey show started off a little strange. Thanks to ASG we didn't have to play first that day. I felt bad for them though. Since they opted for the opening slot which they couldn't take because they had a show on the beach that night, they pretty much came for lunch and then had to split. If you get a chance to check them out do it. They are a great band! We sold a ton of records in New Jersey. We had a great crowd for the last spot of the day as well. Thanks to all that stuck around for us. It was a great time and worth every second of that long hot day. The drive to Charlottle felt like it took forever. We opted to sleep at a rest area a few miles out of town. When the sun came up it was hot and the stagnant. After getting shunned by security we parked right on the other side of the fence to avoid the mile long load in. The logic of the Warped Tour staff puzzles me. It is almost like a bunch of prison relationships. "Do for me and I'll do for you." Since those of us in VAUX don't kiss anybody's ass, we usually have to use our wit and creative imaginations to make things a little easier on ourselves. Thanks to those who watched us play. I caught Evaline and ASG play that day. Ryder, Kurt and Keenan decided to have a bull horn freak out in the merch area. They drove everyone nuts. It was pretty funny in retrospect. Chris drove us to Norfolk, Virgina that night to stay at his Brother Carl's house. It was great seeing Carl, Lacy, Bonneville, Norton, Brian, Dave, D5, Michelle and Samantha. POS opened the show in Virginia Beach. It was great seeing some different stuff on the tour. It was a fun show. Nice seeing some VAUX fans in Virginia Beach. After the show we hung out in the tent selling stuff and making weird contraptions out of Bamboo. Seb made a crossbow, Greg made a flute and Q made a slingshot. All of the contraptions worked really well. Chris put a bamboo dart into a beer can with the crossbow. Everyone was really impressed. Good times I tell you. Later that night we went back to Carl and Lacy's. Carl let Chris and I ride his kick ass Triumph racing bike. It was the first time I have ever been on a street bike. I grew up riding dirt bikes so I was eager to get a chance to ride the street bike. It was awesome and if I had the means I would race with Carl. Thanks to all mentioned above again for the great Barbeque that night. - adam

Buffalo, Boston, Camden and Scranton

We say the strangest thing on the way to Buffalo. We were just about ready to cross the Ohio/Pennsylvania border and we decided to pull off at an exit to grab some food. As we approached the station that we were going to stop at we say a guy crash his motorcycle ending up underneath it in a pool of his own blood. It was one of the weirdest things I have ever witnessed. Joe slammed the van in park and we all ran out to lift a very heavy motorcycle off of this guy. The guy was unconscious without a helmet and without a jacket. The man was dressed in just jeans, a t-shirt and boots. The man's friend was riding next to him, but disappeared as soon as he knew the ambulance and police were on their way. We assumed the men had been drinking. The man that crashed looked like a rag doll as he hit the ground. Always wear a helmet folks. It doesn't take much to get messed up on a motorcycle.
The Buffalo Warped Tour show was good. This was the day our record came out. We played this gigantic amphitheater and it was hot as hell. Thanks to those that came to rock that day. Even though it ws hot, it was fun to rock out on that stage. After the show we went over to Six Flags and rode of the my favorite roller coasters called The Superman. It is the smoothest, most comfortable roller coaster I have ever been on. I highly recommend it if you are ever in the Buffalo area.
The Boston show was good. We played first. The venue was an old private airport. Security was tight. It was the hottest day so far. I think I heard someone say that the heat index was around 110 or so. That is some hot weather with the humidity. I saw a girl drop to the ground form heat exhaustion. The dust in the air was sticking to all of the sweaty humans that day. Poor Greg looked like he had a mask on from all of the dirt that collected on his face. It was a miserably hot day. We left that afternoon for Hoagie Haven in Princeton, New Jersey. Most of the dudes ordered the usual..."Number 12 cheese on the grill". We spent the night at Quentin's parents house. Thanks to Joan and Dale Smith for their hospitality.
Camden was a great show. We had a great slot that day. There had to have been a couple thousand people watching us in the amphitheater. Many people bought our new record that day and we are so very thankful for that. After the show we all played the Bodog poker tournament. There were 80 people, 10 tables, a dj and great food and drinks. Sebastian went out first in our group. Ryder went out second, then me, then Greg, then Joe, then Chris. Quentin ended up at the final table and finished fourth overall. We were all cheering him on. We were so proud of him for making it that far. One could tell that there were some good players that night, but Quentin was shutting them down. We talked some serious shit towards the end. Oops.
Morning came all too early and Quentin drove us to Scranton to this beautiful amphitheater in the mountains. We palyed first this morning so we decided to change up the set. We played, The Rope, The Pistol, The Candlestick/Never Better/No Rebates/VanFong/Are You With Me/Set It To Blow. The set was perfect for the cloudy sky and cool subtle morning. I loved it. I have been having weird amp issues for the past few days and I finally figured out what was causing the problems. My damn Memory Man. I love that pedal but Electro Harmonix pedals are not built for the road. Thanks for a great day people. We are back at Q's parent's house now preparing for tomorrows show in New York. -adam

One day until the record comes out

I am so excited about our record coming out. It has been a long strange process. I am very greatful to everyone that has helped make this record see the light of day. Countless hours of work have gone into this album and I hope people like it. I think it is great and I am very proud of it.
Yesterday was a sold-out show in Chicago. I had the best time playing yesterday. There wasn’t really any one thing in particular that made it great. I think I just decided to rock out no matter what. I always wanted to jump from monitor to monitor across the front of the stage and that is just what I did. I saw Wes from American Nightmare do it one time at the first Monster Fest in Vermont and I said to myself, I want to do that some day.
Detroit was great as well. There were tons of people there. Many Canadians made it down from Windsor, which was great to see. The set up was strange that day. We had to set up inside Comerica Park where the Detroit Tigers play. The security was tight and it made it a bit hard on everyone that day. Thanks to Rick and John for the photograph. That is awesome of you guys.
We stayed with our friend Chris Lazlo Koltay in Detroit. Chris has an awesome Studio which is right down the street from old Tiger Stadium. The place has tons of vintage equipment complete with everything from a Hammond to rare boutique amplifiers. I admire the time and effort Lazlo has put into his studio. If you are in the area looking for a place to record, drop by and check it out. Thanks Lazlo for putting us up. We miss you being on the road with us.
Indianapolis was fun and hot. We ended up playing an early slot that day. It worked out nice for me because I got to have lunch with my mom and my brother. We had lunch at this barbeque joint and it was delicious. Thanks Bro. Thanks to my Mother for putting us up after the Cincinnati show and before the Indianapolis show. She made us these kick ass burritos and pizza and provided a great quiet place to stay.
The Cincinnati show was great. The sound inside the amphitheatre was surprisingly good. Usually the amphitheatres sound horrible on stage because they are so big, but the one in Cincinnati sounds great. After the show we took advantage of the free water park that was right across the parking lot form the venue. My favorite thing at the park was this metal slide. It was like an old playground slide but write in the middle of this gigantic pool. The faces that Sebastian and Quentin made when they went down the slide were priceless. It was fast and fun. I would like to give an Honorable mention to the tube slide. After the sun went down. You couldn’t see anything. It was a blast. -adam

A While

It has been a while. We are back on the warped tour having played Salt Lake City, Denver, St. Louis, Cincinnati and Pittsburg. Denver was an incredible show. Thanks to all that came out. Thanks for being there Tiana, Rhodes, Mike/Joan/Maddie/Sid, and everyone else that came. That was one of my favorite days for sure. Tomorrow we play Indianapolis. Right now we are staying at my parents house in Indianapolis. It has been nice. My mom ordered us pizza and it was great. Thanks Mom!
The days have been good. The drives haven't been too bad. I slept in the trailer last night. I kept having these weird dreams of people climbing into the trailer because the trailer door was open. I guess the boogie man lives in Pittsburg too.
Hope all is well with you all. I can't wait for the record to come out. There has been talk of us recording another new song very soon. I can't wait to do some more writing and recording.
Get some sleep....you have been on the computer too long people. - adam

A Day In The Life part 2

Internet connections failed me so I have to continue telling my story. We played a fun show in the amphitheatre. We rocked right after Valient Thorr was done. Afterwards a grabbed a shower in the Shower Trailer. It was almost like taking a shower in a motorhome. Kind of strange, but on a hot sweaty day there is nothing like a shower. Shower time was over and I headed back to the tent. I turned myself into a display that looked like a dead person on the Volcom table. Sticky covered me in stickers and people loved it. Many asked if I was a real person. Ha ha ha . Dinner time creeped up on us. After dinner we packed up and headed out to play an off-day show in Baton Rouge. Almost 600 miles to go! - adam

A Day In the Life...

The day can start as early as Midnight. I am usually in the van at this point either driving or trying to get some sleep before it is my turn to drive. Chris and Ryder took the first shift of driving. During this time last night I ended up eating too much Bit o Honeys, Hot Tomales and Flaming Hot Fries. Man I felt weighed down. I took over driving early this morning and arrived in Atlanta at 4:30 am. I took a Huggie Wipe bath and brushed my teeth right before I climbed into the trailer to get some sleep. 9 O' Clock creeped up way too quick. We had to move the van and find where the stage and our tent was so we could load in and set up for the day. Once we were loaded in, we wrote the release date of the new album on about 600-700 samplers and then passed them out. Lunch came early today because Mark G dropped off a couple of cheeseburgers for Ryder and I. Thanks Marc G. 2:00 and I am writing this journal entry. I will be back later to finish up this day in the life. Thanks for reading my journal. - adam

The Sweaty Hot South

The last 5 days have been hot and sweaty and free of any sort of regular sleep. Kansas City Warped Tour was good to us. Nothing to outlandish. I has been really exciting getting to meet some new people. Speaking of meeting new people. I met Page Hamilton from Helmet today. He was very nice. He actually introduced himself to Herbie from Valient Thor, Chris(vaux), and myself. I couldn't believe it. I am a big helmet fan. I would have never imagined getting the chance to meet Page Hamilton. Hell yeah! After Kansas City we had a day off at Joes parent's house in Lee's Summit Missouri. Joe and I skated this really cool ramp right near his parents house. The next day we drove to Nashville and made it there early in the morning. We slept in the van until we had to get up and get ready for that days Warped show. Greg and I handed out about a thousand samplers to people trying to spread the good word. We also met up wit The Letters Organize that day. Goodtimes. I think it was beer thirty for Kasey pretty early that day. Hats off to those guys because the rock. Donnie their drummer said that he almost fainted that day from playing in the direct sunlight. Jacksonville was good to us. Many new faces. That was the day that ASG started up on the tour. That band rocks. Check them out if you haven't. Good solid dudes and kick ass rock and roll. Jonah is a new face in the band and a hell of a nice guy. Jason, you have the best guitar faces I have ever seen. Gets me more into it every time. Today was Tampa/St Petersburg. The venue was beautiful. Right on the water. Thanks to Rachel, my new friend Sean's girlfriend, I made it from Cocoa Beach to St. Pete in time for the show. I spent the night before in Cocoa Beach doing some preparation for the RideTheBoogie show that is tomorrow the 24th. We even learned two new special covers for the occassion. Tomorrow Miami. Goodnight folks. - adam

WARPED CONCERT

It has been a couple days since I have posted a journal entry. It is hard to find a place to work on the computer here at Warped Concert. I am standing in the equipement tent sniping Volcoms internet connection. Thanks Volcom. And especially thanks for having us as your guest out here. It has been really hot out here. We are in Minnesota today. i like it here. Kind of reminds me of Denver in a way. It was nice making some new friends overe the past couple days. Rebecca, thanks for coming out to the show in Maryland. Thanks to everyone that has come out the shows to see us! The Valient Thor guys are nice dudes. Haven't had a whole lot of time to check out bands because we have been moving about a thousands miles an hour since we have been on the road. I am looking forward to checking out some bands tonight though.
It is only 6 days until the RideTheBoogie show. It takes place the night after VAUX plays the Miami Warped Tour date. Glen and I will be heading up to Cocoa Beach to rock at Fischer's Bar And Grill. If you are in the area, make sure you come and she the shennanigans. It is going to be a good time. We will be dedicating the whole set to fellow Boogie member Kevin Burwick who unfortunately cannot attend due to a family wedding he has to attend. Congrats Christen Burwick on getting married on the 23rd. On side note, The Burwick's are one of the greatest families in the world!!! Love you guys! - adam

Arlington Heights, New York and New Jersey

Thanks to everyone who came out to the past three shows. New been to Arlington Heights before. Nice community pool! We all went swimming before the show and it was great. Did some synchronized diving and what not. If you ever get a chance, check out the pool in Arlington Heights. Good diving boards and great music believe it or not. CBGB's was fun. School Yard Heroes rocked especially hard that night. Last night we played Maxwell's. It was great to see some VAUX fans there. We even got to see a homemade VAUX shirt. That made our day. Thanks again to everyone for coming out to the shows. Thanks to Maxwell's for the great food and hospitality. I have never been to Hoboken New Jersey before. It is really nice. Joe and I hit up the skate park and jammed for a little while before the show. I have never skated a park with that kind of backdrop before. You can see New York City right across the river. Looks so cool! -adam

Denver

I had a great time in Denver. It was good to be home for a day to hang out with my family and my dogs. I was so excited to see how many people came out to the show. I love the way the new singles turned out. Hopefully everyone will like them. We made the drive to Wisconsin and played a good show at the Warehouse. Thanks to all who came out to the show. Thanks to the School Yard Heroes and a few others for helping us load in to the club. The club is about a 75 stair climb from the street, no kidding. Joe drove us around last night as we bargained for the cheapest hotel to stay at. We finally ended up at this Econo Lodge that has a 24 hours pool. I was excited and bummed at the same time. Excited that there was a pool that I could swim in, but bummed that there was just not enough time to get my swin on. Let's go to Chicago. Cheese curds and Uncle Buck are on the menu for this morning. - adam

Home for a day

Man it feels good to be home for a day. We played Ogden, Utah last night. The show was a lot of fun. After the show we had a banquet sized meal of the weirdest shit from Del Taco with the School Yard Heroes. Man the people eat some strange stuff...I like. We are having a great time touring with them. Sacramento, 2 nights before was a ton of fun as well. I really like playing Van Fong live. I am looking forward to the Denver show. - adam

The Past Few Days

June 2nd- The show at Nuemos was a great time. I was so excited to play. I have taken a different approach to playing shows on this tour. I thought it was time to stop thinking the stage as a “Stage”. Instead, I started thinking of it as a dancefloor. It’s a lot more fun that way and I tend to groove it down a lot more. I also ran into some friends I haven’t seen in a while. Nice to catch up with those folks. School Yard Heros rocked out tonight and so did the Siren Sisters. I am realy looking forward to this next stint with the School Yard Heros. June 3rd- 97 Days of Summer in Eugene, Oregon. The place was beautiful. We haven’t played a show in such a beautiful setting in a long time. Surrounded by trees, wild strawberries, daises, and Ron Jeremy. Ron Jeremy? Ron Jeremy was there to introduce The Presidents of the United States of America, who by the way, were plagued with equipment problems. The Singer/Bass player’s bass kept falling off of his shoulder due to a strap lock problem. He was getting very aggravated with their guitar tech. Poor guy. The guitar tech that is. It looked like he was going to have a nervous breakdown. I felt bad for that dude. I managed to talk Ron Jeremy into posing for a couple autographs…get your mind out of the gutter. I volunteered Joe to take a photo with him. Chris and his brother Kurt also opted for a photo with Captain Ron Jeremy. Ron performed a stand up comedy routine before he introduced The Presidents. Pretty impressive routine for a guy who is famous for his you know what. We drove 10-11 hours to Sacramento to stay at Chris’ aunt’s house to play Orangevale at the board walk. Lani made us a great breakfast with zucchini and mushrooms. Thanks Lani! June 4th - A few hours til showtime and I am hoping tonight is going to rock! - adam

Sasquatch Fest at the Gorge

Thanks to our friend Danny; Chris, Greg Joe and I got to see some really goood bands yesterday at the Gorge in Washington. First up was Wolfmother. Reminded me of The White Stripes a little. Next up was Trail of Dead. They rocked. I have seen them many times and this was one to catch in my opinion. Never seen anyone put a drumstick through a floor tom and a tympani. Power went out too, right in the middle of their set. I was pleased to know that VAUX isn't the only band that has happened too. Saw it happen to Ink and Dagger in Boulder Colorado way back when. After Trail of Dead was a great band that I had never seen before, TV on the Radio. I was impressed. The guys in my band turned me on to them. Great set, high energy. Oh yeah, right before they started they jammed with Trail of Dead at the end of their set. It was really cool to see bands excited to collaborate. It seems that doesn't happen much anymore...or at least as much as I remember it used to. i didn't get to catch HIM who played next. HIM who? The band HIM. After HIM was Bauhaus. Never thought I would get a chance to catch a Bauhaus set from the stage. Although I am not very familiar with all of Bauhaus' material I really liked it. High energy, loud as hell and that lead singer is so damn sassy! It was cool! Last but not least...Nine Inch Nails....NIN to the lay person. They rocked. Their show is fucking awesome. The lights and sound are incredible. I think Aaron Icarus really adds to the show with his crazy guitar style and great tone. I have never been the hugest NIN fan in the world but they definitely climbed on to my favorites shows of all time list. Overall, I had a great time and it was great to hangout with my friend Danny Wood! Thanks Danny, thanks Bands...I had a great time. -adam

Thanks for signing up for the AUXILIARY

Thanks to all who have signed up for the AUXILIARY. That is so kind of you all. I am so excited for the summer tour. It is days before Chris, Greg and I leave to meet up with the rest of the guys in Seattle. The trip to Seattle: Two Days, Two Drivers, countless hours of music. Sounds like the recipe for a good time. One of the things I am looking forward to the most is playing my guitar. I always get great musical ideas when I am on the road. - Adam

Can't wait for everyone to see it.
